There is a lot to look forward to in Florence, Oregon. These upcoming months have a great number of upcoming events that you can come and enjoy.
The Annual Fore! Kids Golf Classic will be happening on June 2, 2018. It will be held at Ocean Dunes Golf Links and has an entrance rate of $89 per player.
As many 130 golfers will be attending this event, with the winner getting the chance to win a truck or even as much as $5000.
The big draw of this event is the Helicopter Golf Ball drop. Whoever wins the initial draw will get to ride a helicopter and drop their golf ball onto the pitch. The goal is to get as close as possible to the hole. Wherever the ball lands, that is where they will start.
The event starts at 8 a.m., with an awards luncheon happening at 3:15 p.m.
The tournament is done in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Lane Country. The money raised in this tournament will be used to fund programs, activities, and field trips for children in Florence.
The Oregon Free Fishing Days
On Jun 2 and 3, Oregon’s free fishing days will be open to the public. This means that the whole family can enjoy fishing as they will not need a license, tag, or endorsement to fish or crab anywhere in Oregon.
Explore the many fishing spots and introduce the whole family to the wonders of fishing.
It must be noted though that while the licensing is lax, catch limits and other restrictions will apply.
A Nice Family Gathering
The Last Resort Players present the play called “A Nice Family Gathering” for their 25th year in a row.
The play begins on Thanksgiving Day. It is the first holiday since the patriarch of the family has died. In the play, the deceased patriarch returns in that dinner to tell his wife that he loved her. You see, throughout the 41 years that he was married to his wife, he had never told her.
Complications arise though when the wife can’t even see or hear him. Worse of all is that she had brought a date.
The play will run through several days of June (June 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17) with Friday and Saturday shows starting at 7 p.m., and Sunday shows starting at 2 p.m.
Ticket prices cost $18.
The National Beach Cleanup Tour 2018
The Ocean Blue Project invites you to the 2018 National Beach Cleanup Tour at Heceta beach. This event is geared towards cleaning up this beach while also making people aware of the negative effects of plastic on the oceans.
The efforts of everyone at the event will be filmed and a few lucky volunteers will even be interviewed for a study about debris found in the oceans.
Whether you are from Oregon or just want to pass by, you can make a difference by helping out at this event.
